The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE) seeks a passionate Community Engagement Coordinator to amplify our mission and foster meaningful connections across the North Peninsula. This full-time, hybrid role involves cultivating partnerships with local organizations, creating compelling content to showcase our clients and impact, and organizing events to engage stakeholders and build community support. Ideal candidates have experience in communications, community engagement, or event planning, with strong storytelling and social media skills.

North Peninsula Community Engagement Coordinator

Job Type:
Full-time, hourly, non-exempt.

Work Location:
This position is a hybrid position. Work will be done in the field throughout the the North Peninsula with a focus on Spanish-speaking communities.

Salary:
$28.85/hour to $31.25/hour (equivalent to $60,000-$65,000 annualized) DOE.

Organization Summary

The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship makes business ownership possible for people with limited resources in underrepresented rural communities by providing accessible and inclusive first-step business training, advising, and support to help them start a business that is ready to grow.


Position Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator will increase community awareness of CIE’s mission, clients, and impact through partnership development, communications and marketing, and community events designed to engage the community and build ongoing local partners, volunteers, funders, individual donors, and community support.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Partnerships: Develop and steward strategic partnerships with community stakeholders, including, but not limited to, the local economic development and business assistance programs, area chambers of commerce, civic clubs and organizations, trade and merchant associations, and community-based social service organizations targeting underserved communities to cultivate the development of a strong resource and referral partner network and generate leads for potential partners, volunteers, funders and donors. Using Little Green Lights, Monday.com, or other donor/contact management systems, maintain detailed records of all contacts and activities.

  • Communications and Storytelling: Work with the Community Engagement Team to coordinate and manage the communications editorial calendar. In coordination with the Community Engagement Team, write and edit regional content for key organization publications, including emails, newsletters, annual reports, brochures, fact sheets, promotional flyers, and other communications. Conduct staff, volunteer and client interviews to be used for spotlight stories in newsletters, direct mail, website, social media posts, presentations, and press releases. Regularly create and post compelling social media content ensuring CIE’s mission and clients are centered in its online presence.

  • Events: With support from the Community Engagement Team and working with the regional team, plan, organize, and facilitate client networking events, business showcases, friend-raising and fund-raising events, and other events designed to engage community stakeholders, increase community awareness of CIE, it’s clients, and its impact, and generate leads for potential partners, volunteers, funders, and donors.

  • Administration: Work with the Program Team to secure, organize and keep current client permissions for using their stories. Maintain video and photo library of videos and photos. Working with the Community Engagement Team, update and maintain our donor database and contact management systems. Monitor and report on social media outreach, including weekly and monthly reporting. Help establish and maintain internal communications to inform staff of your work. Other assigned responsibilities as required, at the discretion of his/her manager.

  • Professional Development: Through attendance and participation in professional groups, seminars, and/or courses and conferences, pursue professional development opportunities to expand core outreach, marketing, and fund development competencies.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in communications, community development, community organizing, fund development, or related field.

  • Commitment to Diversity. Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities, with an ability to establish interpersonal rapport and relate to individuals from various backgrounds and cultures.

  • Business Knowledge. Familiarity with starting or managing a small business and the important role of entrepreneurship, self-employment, and business ownership in rural communities.

  • Communication Skills. Strong oral, written, listening, and storytelling skills. Ability to turn CIE’s work and impact into compelling client-centered content for web, YouTube, social media, and virtual and in-person presentations for diverse audiences.

  • Event Planning Skills: Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and deliver client networking and other community events that engage the community in activities that help CIE show its work and impact and generate leads for potential volunteers, partners, funders, and donors.

  • Computer Skills: Competent with Google Workstation, Zoom, Microsoft Office Word, Adobe, Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Little Green Light, Monday.com, Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and WhatsApp, and ability to learn new programs. Including the ability to collect and analyze statistical data. Contact management system experience preferred.

  • Graphic Design Skills: Ability to design compelling graphics for fliers, social media posts, email campaigns, and websites using Adobe, Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and WhatsApp.

  • Customer Service Orientation. Desire and ability to provide friendly and flexible services to internal co-workers and external stakeholders and community members to resolve concerns promptly, following the appropriate processes and procedures. Ability to remain poised under a variety of circumstances and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.

  • Agile Self-Starter: Ability to exercise independent judgment, make effective decisions, and complete assigned tasks without direct supervision. High tolerance for ambiguity. Ability to sustain work and attention despite distractions and/or interruptions. Ability to address multiple complex problems simultaneously without loss of efficiency or accuracy, including the ability to execute multiple assignments from multiple sources.

  • Team player: Strong interpersonal skills and team attitude. Places a higher emphasis on contributions to a work team than on receiving recognition for personal contribution. Has the ability to work in collaboration with multiple team members, to share ideas, to be open to the ideas of others, and to work toward organizational priorities and goals.

  • Reliable Transportation. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel by vehicle extensively to facilitate outreach activities and events, orientations, and as needed, to meet with clients and other business assistance programs within a 100 mile radius from office location.


Desired Qualifications

  • Background in communications or marketing preferred (bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience)
  • Familiarity with fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong roots in the North Peninsula region of Washington and familiarity with various stakeholders in rural communities.


Work Environment

  • Office hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
