What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Family Housing Advocate-Emergency Shelter Prog_Peabody position at Centerboard Inc?
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Family Housing Advocate will be the point person along with the program director for coordinating all events and services for the families assigned to temporary hotel shelter with Centerboard. This position will collaborate with other assigned individuals who will share in obtaining services for this critical operation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Organize the intake of families as assigned by DHCD. Utilize an intake system that collects data on families upon arrival. (needs assessment)
- Create, track and update a shared database that provides information on the families assigned to a hotel EA shelter. Include family name, HOH, contact information, location, room number, and family make up, language, children ages and any other information that may become pertinent as needed.
- Assess weekly food needs; coordinate food deliveries (centerboard and food pantry)
- Coordinate-organize food purchases, food pantry set up and/or receipt of food from donations.
- Contact the families with a minimum of one call per week, document the conversation.
- Coordinate visits with families as needed with Centerboard staff or other supporting organizations visiting the families once per week. ( may set up central location for meetings/visits)
- Maintain constant and consistent communication with DHCD, whether through standard weekly meetings, emails or phone calls. Provide data as requested to DHCD.
- Work with Deb Mullaly (or other individuals) on hotel availability and readiness.
- Work collaboratively with other individuals assigned to support this operation.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
This position will desire someone with experience with housing or working with homeless families. The qualified candidates must possess strong communication skills, be organized, have excellent time management skills and be able to take direction and execute based on instructions received. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, have a can do approach to completing job assignments and be detailed oriented.
