Position Title: Program Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Twin Cedars Mission Statement: Enriching lives through inclusive outdoor experiences.
About Twin Cedars:Founded in 1955, Twin Cedars is a 315 acre nonprofit summer camp and outdoor recreation facility located just outside of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
We serve as a rental facility for other nonprofits, schools, religious groups, and civic organizations as well and running our own programs; Make Promises Happen and Camp Prism.
- Make Promises Happen: Oklahoma’s largest camping and outdoor recreation programs for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
- Camp Prism: Camping and outdoor recreation program for youth who are members of the LGBTQIA community. This is Twin Cedars’ newest program and the Program Coordinator will have a large role to play in helping us shape and develop this new venture.
Year-Round Responsibilities:
Twin Cedars Programs:Programs developed and implemented directly by Twin Cedars staff and volunteers.
Make Promises Happen: The Program Coordinator works closely with Make Promises Happen Leadership to accomplish the following tasks:
- Research and implement new adaptive and accessible outdoor activities
- Recruit and train MPH volunteers
- Schedule program facilitators for all MPH events
- Grow and expand MPH program offerings
Camp Prism: The Program Coordinator works closely with the Camp Prism leadership team to accomplish the following tasks:
- Research other programs serving similar populations to develop program policies and best practices
- Work to obtain ACA accreditation for Camp Prism
- Recruit and train Camp Prism volunteers
- Help publicly promote Camp Prism and recruit campers
· Partner Programs:Duties related to Partner Programs include:
- Building activity schedules for partner groups
- Scheduling staffing for Twin Cedars activities utilized by partner groups
- Serving as a programming resource for partner programs as requested
Activity Areas: Twin Cedars is a 315-acre facility filled with outdoor activity areas, such as target sports, high and low ropes courses, a swimming pool, a waterfront (boating and fishing), and various other field games (gaga pits, 9-square, etc.).
Duties related to Activity Areas include:
- Regularly inspecting all program areas for safety and maintenance concerns
- Assisting the Facility Manager with maintenance tasks related to activity areas
Summer Season Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Director in recruiting and hiring seasonal staff
- Assist the Executive Director in planning and executing staff training
- Serve as team leader and primary year-round staff contact for seasonal staff
- Seasonal staff scheduling
Other duties:
- Serve as staff liaison to the Program Committee of the Board of Directors
- Assist with fundraising events as requested
- Provide input in creating Twin Cedars’ annual budget for the areas the Program Coordinator oversees
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (outdoor recreation or similar preferred)
- Lifeguard experience (LGI preferred)
- Previous work at a summer camp or outdoor recreation facility strongly preferred
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time year-round
Salary and Benefits:
- Annual Salary: $35,000-$45,000 depending on experience
