The Healthy Families (HF) Program Supervisor oversees Healthy Families program team members in the screening, assessment, development and execution of realistic and effective plans that empower families to enhance the home environment for the physical, mental and emotional well-being of children who may be at risk of abuse or neglect. This involves delegating and overseeing work assignments to meet service delivery needs and contract standards, while supporting team members in their personal and professional development. Overall, the HF Program Supervisor contributes to the CHS high performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions

1. Oversee team members in the screening, assessment, development and execution of realistic and effective plans that empower families to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of children who may be at risk of abuse or neglect.

Healthy Families Program Supervision (70%)

  • Delegate and oversee work assignments to ensure service delivery meets CHS and contract standards.
  • Review new cases and assign to appropriate direct reports.
  • Provide case consultation and in-service training, as appropriate.
  • Provide family assessment services, crisis case support and resource assistance, when needed.
  • Meet with direct reports at least monthly to provide reflective supervision to:
    • Observe their physical and emotional response to the work and how that might impact the work.
    • Encourage self-reflection and self-regulation to identify and reflect on boundary reinforcement, self-care and culturally-sensitive practice.
    • Focus on the parallel process, expanding on the inter-relationship between the team member, the family and the infant/child experience.

Healthy Families Program Standards & Quality (30%)

  • Meet weekly with direct reports to review client status and to support team and individual quality and productivity.
  • Evaluate compliance with service standards and quality requirements by completing quality assurance checks and direct report observations.
  • Oversee quality service by regularly initiating telephone calls to clients and attending home visits.
  • Monitor quality of all documentation.
  • Attend meetings with Program Manager, community leaders, and other agencies for feedback.

Healthy Families Program Administration (20%)

  • Review documentation in preparation for weekly supervision meetings.
  • Perform file reviews, as needed.
  • Prepare, review, and follow-up on necessary reports.

2. Recruit, develop and lead a team capable of supporting CHS performance and growth strategies (complying with COA Standard T3, when appropriate) while fostering an engaging, positive work environment.

  • Recruit, supervise and support team members and foster their professional development, including the transfer of knowledge obtained through training.
  • Establish annual team goals and objectives; track and report results.
  • Coach, support and evaluate team member performance, taking corrective action if needed.
  • Deliver timely communication through regular management and team meetings.
  • Comply and confirm compliance with CHS code of conduct, policies, practices and other legal obligations.
  • Implementing policies and practices designed to prevent, recognize and respond to work-related stress.
  • Participate in succession planning to build the bench strength necessary for future talent needs.
  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time
  • Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a Human Services related field from an accredited university, required; Master’s preferred OR, two years college or AA/AS degree in Counseling, Social Work, or other Human Services-related field, plus three years of experience working with families and the Healthy Families program OR, Child Development Associate Credential plus four years experience working with families and the Healthy Families program.
  • Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire is required, along with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.

Experience:

  • Experience in home visitation with a strong background in prevention services to the 0-3 age population, required.
  • One year of supervisory experience, preferred.

  • Identify and understand environmental stressors.
  • Observe and report accurately on the functioning of individuals and families.
  • Handle stressful, sensitive, potentially life-threatening situations; preserve confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Perform at a high level of autonomy with general supervision under strong demands in fast-paced, diverse, sometimes ambiguous environments.
  • Commit to providing high customer satisfaction with positive service delivery results.
  • Meet critical deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Use sound judgement to solve practical problems; act decisively to protect clients when needed.
