### Job Summary:
The Service Writer acts as the primary point of contact for customers requiring vehicle maintenance and repair services. This role involves understanding customer needs, providing expert advice, and ensuring that all services are performed to the highest standards, aligning with Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram specifications.
### Key Responsibilities:
**Customer Interaction:**
- Greet customers promptly and courteously.
- Listen to customer concerns and record detailed information about vehicle issues.
- Provide clear and accurate estimates for service costs and timeframes.
- Keep customers informed about the status of their vehicle throughout the service process.
**Service Coordination:**
- Schedule service appointments, balancing customer needs with shop capacity.
- Prepare work orders detailing the necessary repairs and services.
- Communicate with technicians to ensure they understand customer complaints and the necessary repairs.
- Ensure all work is performed as outlined in the work order and meets CDJR standards.
**Sales and Recommendations:**
- Advise customers on necessary and recommended maintenance services.
- Upsell additional services and products when appropriate, ensuring customers understand the benefits.
- Process warranty repairs and recalls, liaising with Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram representatives as needed.
**Documentation and Record-Keeping:**
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all service transactions.
- Handle customer payments and process transactions using dealership systems.
- Ensure all documentation complies with dealership and manufacturer requirements.
**Customer Satisfaction:**
- Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Contribute to the dealership’s customer satisfaction index (CSI) scores.
**Team Collaboration:**
- Work closely with the service manager, technicians, and parts department to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in regular training to stay updated on CDJR products, services, and industry best practices.
### Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or automotive training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a service writer, advisor, or in a similar role within an automotive dealership.
- Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair services, particularly for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using dealership management software and other relevant computer applications.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
### Working Conditions:
- Primarily a desk job with frequent interaction with customers in a showroom or service area.
- May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
- Typical working hours include weekdays and Saturdays, with some flexibility required.
