What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Marketing Specialist position at City of Deerfield Beach?
The purpose of this position is to implement, track, and optimize our digital marketing campaigns across all digital channels to enhance the city's online presence, engage with residents and stakeholders, and promote city initiatives and events.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (Role requires flexibility with hour/days of work as may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the City.)

- Develop and execute compelling, out-of-the-box-type digital marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, drive website traffic, and achieve strategic objectives.
- Work with departmental leadership to optimize social media channels (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to foster community engagement, share relevant content, and respond to inquiries and comments.
- Work with the Communications manager to use the city newsletter to launch campaigns, announcements, and event invitations and communicate effectively with residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
- Conduct keyword research, on-page optimization, and content creation to improve the city's search engine ranking and visibility.
- Monitor and analyze digital marketing performance metrics (e.g., website traffic, social media engagement, email open rates) to track campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging digital trends, tools, and technologies in the marketplace and government space, and recommend innovative strategies to enhance the city's digital presence.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to align digital marketing efforts with broader communication and outreach initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to digital marketing, data privacy, and accessibility.
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by department leadership.

- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot) are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital marketing, focusing on SEO, social media, and email marketing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Must be able to provide a portfolio containing samples of work.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a government or public sector environment
- Proficiency in SEO tools (e.g., Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, Moz, etc.), social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social), and website content management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, draw actionable insights, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for various digital channels.
- Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and keeping pace with evolving digital marketing trends and technologies.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused mindset.
