Your role as a Police Procurement Specialist will directly contribute to maintaining the tools and resources needed to support our officers in serving the community.
About the Role:As the Police Procurement Specialist, you will:
- Manage all equipment testing, purchasing, inventory, and issuance to ensure that approximately 800 personnel are properly outfitted.
- Complete Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for uniform and duty gear vendor contracts, providing recommendations for contract selection and renewals, and administering related contracts.
- Maintain the Department’s electronic database and web portal for uniform and duty gear requisitions, including user account management and requisition approvals.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels for basic duty equipment, documenting all transactions in inventory management software.
- Coordinate equipment testing and evaluation with vendors, documenting and presenting findings to command staff.
- Oversee the Department’s body armor inventory, including fittings, expiration notifications, and replacement orders.
- Manage the inventory of Portable Land Mobile Radios (LMR) and accessories, ensuring functionality, warranty repairs, and adequate stock levels while coordinating with Guilford Metro 911 for assignments.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability to handle complex inventory and procurement processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED with 4 - 6 years of related experience in inventory management
- North Carolina Driver's License
- Experience in law enforcement
- Experience records or capturing inventory data using electronic databases
- General knowledge of accounting
- General knowledge of public budgeting and public purchasing requirements and laws
