About This Position
The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserve land with more than 200 miles of trails; 187 parks; 33 community and recreation centers; eight golf courses; 29 pools; and classes, programs, and sports leagues. The Parks and Recreation Department also develops and maintains new parks, park amenities and facilities with funding from a variety of sources.
Parks Forman I interacts with park patrons and the general public, leads and directs field employees in the maintenance of parks, including turf grass, habitat restoration areas, sports fields, arboriculture, programming and maintenance of automated irrigation systems, buildings, and facilities, street right-of-way landscapes, utilizing sustainable landscape management techniques.
Duties Include
Pay Range:: $20.51 - $38.68 per hour.
Hiring Range: $20.51 - 27.49 per hour.

- Supervising the work of field staff.
- Planning and coordinating projects.
- Reviewing and evaluating contracted services.
- Completing required reports.
- Complying with environmental regulations.
- Coordinating projects with other City departments.
- General administrative duties.
- Communicating effectively with the public and providing excellent customer service.
- Proficient in computer administration.
Pay Range:: $20.51 - $38.68 per hour.
Hiring Range: $20.51 - 27.49 per hour.

- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three years experience in turf maintenance, garden care, custodial maintenance, or related experience.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Any of the following certifications: International Society of Arboriculture State of Arizona Pesticide Applicators License Arizona Landscape Contractors Association Certifications Water Management Turf Management.
- Experience in water management/irrigation.
- Experience in landscaping/horticulture.
- Experience using purchasing software such as SAP/SRM.
- Experience in facility management.
- Experience in managing park construction projects.
