User Technology Specialist - Water Services Department

About This Position

User Technology Specialists provide technical support to staff in several City of Phoenix departments. Incumbents are responsible for providing end user and back-end support, performing operational maintenance on hardware and software and developing and maintaining inventory of hardware and software. Primary responsibilities include helpdesk support, systems and security support, server and network support, development of standard and customized images for PCs and other devices, troubleshooting, hardware and software installation, database maintenance, security patch installations, user account administration, LAN administration, and technical documentation.

The Water Services Department is seeking to recruit User Technology Specialists to provide technical support to staff throughout the department. User Technology Specialists are responsible for providing end-user and back-end support, performing operational maintenance on hardware and software, and developing and maintaining an inventory of hardware and software.

Primary Responsibilities Include

• Helpdesk support,
• Providing end-user support at an enterprise level,
• Systems and security support,
• Server and network support,
• Development of standard and customized images for PCs and other devices,
• Troubleshooting, hardware and software installation,
• Database maintenance,
• Security patch installations,
• User account administration,
• LAN administration,

IT professionals in the Water Services Department work closely with professionals in other technology environments and other City departments, offering opportunities for continued professional growth. IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Familiar with work order management systems.
• Journey level experience in the design, installation, programming, and maintenance of HVAC Building Automation systems.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment, with the capacity to set priorities, organize time, and identify resources for projects
• Ability to diagnose and resolve basic computer and technical issues.
• Knowledge of:
• Low and medium electrical voltage.
• Auto Cad and Sequel Server Software.
• Mandated environmental security protections pertaining to building controls.
  

SALARY

Pay Range: $31.06 - $48.19 per hour

Hiring Range: $31.06 - $43.71 per hour.

• Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.

Minimum Qualifications

• One year of experience in:
• Systems applications analysis and programming, OR
• Telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software, OR
• Installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems, OR
• Telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems.
• Course work including training or experience with one or more workstation computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

• Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience with the following:

• Configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise desktops and laptop computers, printers, scanners, and business applications.
• Providing support at an enterprise level, particularly at a Tier 2 level.
• Overseeing an enterprise computer replacement program.
• Remedy Salesforce or other helpdesk ticketing systems.
• Working in an Active Directory environment.
• Level 2 helpdesk support.
