The Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering all benefit plans and assisting employees with enrollment in all benefit programs, including group health, dental, vision, short-term disability, long term care/life benefit (LBT), life insurance, accidental, critical illness, cancer, the flexible spending plan, Rapid Pay Money Card, and the 401 (k) plan; and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including benefits enrollments, plan changes, and benefit related claims.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations governing employee benefit programs.
- Act as the direct point of contact for all plant human resources representatives, employees, and third-party vendors for benefit-related issues.
- Resolve issues related to employee benefits, including claims and eligibility, ensuring quick, equitable, and courteous resolutions to inquiries and complaints.
- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits enrollment systems, prepare and distribute benefits enrollment materials, and document administrative procedures for benefit enrollments.
- Process enrollments, changes, and terminations of employee benefits.
- Participate in the annual benefit renewal process in conjunction with the company’s insurance broker, serving as the internal company project lead for Annual Open Enrollment.
- Process and assist with disability claims, and communicate with beneficiaries regarding death claims.
- Process monthly billings and administrative fees for all group plans accurately and timely.
- Reviews and obtains necessary documentation for qualified plans; IRS and ERISA mandated submissions and employee communications, including IRS Annual Return Forms 5500, 1094 and 1095, Summary Annual Reports (SARs) and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).
- Assist in researching, exploring, recommending, designing, and implementing new programs to ensure best plans, value, and options for employees.
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files, maintain group benefits database, and update employee records.
- Act as a liaison to the company’s payroll processor to accurately update employee records.
- Compile a variety of reports to get maximum utilization of the HRIS system including compliance reports and ad hoc reports.
- Enter and ensure the accuracy of all benefits information in the HRIS system.
- Act as the custodian of the Rapid Pay card, adding, modifying, issuing, tracking, and discontinuing usage.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in benefits administration in a corporate, divisional or central office overseeing multiple locations.
- CEBS, CBP, CBF, SHRM or similar professional certification in benefits administration a plus.
- English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus.
