What are the responsibilities and job description for the AQUATICS COORDINATOR - PARKS AND RECREATION - SPIVEY SPLASH WATER PARK position at Clayton County Government?
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:
Highly responsible working supervisory position under the direction of the Aquatics Manager. Assist and train staff involved with Spivey Splash Waterpark ticket sales and Aquatics operational duties. Work involves performing duties requiring independence, accountability, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Assist the Recreation Aquatics department with programs, services, and facilities within Clayton County Parks and Recreation.
Oversee Spivey Splash Waterpark operations, including handling general questions, group rentals, season passes, online registration inquiries, and cash drawer management.
Assist with lifeguarding classes, team-building exercises, and community outreach efforts to establish partnerships with youth-serving organizations.
Assess community programming needs and provide recommendations to leadership.
Facilitate recruitment for seasonal & part-time positions, including coordinating prerequisite screenings, training, and certifications.
Assist with conducting and overseeing staff orientation, in-service trainings, and educational meetings.
Meet with potential business customers and provide information about rental facilities (indoor and outdoor).
Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, including addressing concerns, directing work, and completing performance appraisals.
Assist with recruitment, including posting job positions and screening applicants for summer camps and any other county applicable position assigned.
Develop work plans for program areas and perform surveys or other administrative tasks as assigned. Perform additional related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - SCHEDULE MAY VARY, INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and an original Social Security card. Must be comfortable working outdoors in summer conditions. Must have excellent customer service skills. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts is required. Must attend all staff meetings, orientations, and trainings. Requires flexibility and a willingness to learn a variety of functional recreational skills. May be required to work up to 29 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing accounting work with basic math skills are required. Desired qualifications include obtaining and maintaining American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including First Aid and CPR, Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certifications.
Physical Requirements: Tasks require moderate physical effort, such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and may involve lifting or carrying objects weighing 12-20 pounds. Some tasks may require perceiving and discriminating sounds, textures, and visual cues and the ability to communicate orally.
