What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pantry Chef/Dishwasher position at Cliff House Inn & Shoals Restaurant?
We are looking for an experienced kitchen staff: pantry/prep/dishes for our kitchen team. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: plating, salads, desserts and appetizers as well as food prep, washing soiled dishes/pots and pans, cleaning the kitchen and various janitorial duties. Exact shifts are in the vicinity of 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Opportunity for promotions available.
Pantry Chef, Dishwasher, and Kitchen Helper is responsible for plating desserts, making salads, prepping in appetizers, and prepping ingredients prior to service. Some shifts this person washes dishes/pots in a food service environment to ensure that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans and glasses. In terms of dishwashing, the duties include prioritizing loads of different types of crockery and kitchenware, hand-washing dishes, loading the dishwasher and placing dishes to dry.
Pantry Cook responsibilities include preparing various salads, appetizers and plating desserts before they are served and storing food items, as needed. To be successful in this role, you should be able to handle the kitchen’s fast-paced working environment, be knowledgeable and certified with food hygiene and be available to work during evenings and weekends/holidays.
Ultimately, you will contribute to delivering a pleasant dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Make cold appetizers, including salads, vegetable and meat items
- Garnish dishes with spices, nuts, fruit and vegetables
- Prepare vinaigrettes, dips and herb-infused oils
- Perform meal-prep activities before guests arrive (like chopping vegetables, cutting fish and meat and washing fruits)
- Store ingredients to keep them fresh and reduce food wastage
- Check food plating, temperature and portions for all cold dishes
- Sterilize kitchen equipment at the end of your shift
- Monitor stock and place orders, as needed
- Recommend modern recipes to renew our menu and add nutritious, creative cold dishes
- Maintain a clean station at all times
Requirements
- Work experience as a Pantry Cook
- Hands-on experience with professional kitchen equipment
- Good knowledge of food plating techniques
- Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit
- Availability to work in shifts, including evenings and weekends
- A degree from a culinary school is not required but is a plus
This position also requires Prep Cook responsibilities. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
