GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Women and Children’s Health Service Line Manager is responsible for the internal and external operations and relationships tied to the Women and Children’s programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Functions Unique to Women & Children’s Health:
  • Directly responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Pediatric and OB/GYN clinic workflows and protocols, provider relations and the overall patient experience.
  • Collaborate with Covenant HealthCare and MyMichigan Health leadership to assist in establishing care for patients seen within the hospital setting who require an OB/GYN or Pediatrician.
  • Promote the transition of newborns delivered within the OB/GYN department into CMU Health primary care services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between CMEP and all local and state partners and agencies for improving the health and welfare of women and children (such as the Regional Perinatal Quality Collaborative, Centering Steering Committee, THRIVE/MIHIA committee and Safe Sleep Campaign); forge a close relationship with Covenant Healthcare and MyMichigan Health on all initiatives related to women and children.
  • Ensures a high level of community and patient outreach regarding all activities and events related to women and children’s health.
  • Work with partner hospitals’ surgical leadership to maintain required OR block time and meet the utilization percentage requirements.
  • Manage all QI projects, KPIs and watch metrics related to the health and well-being of women and children.
  • Improve clinical outcomes of the departments through staff education, implementation of clinical policies and procedures and direct oversight of the clinical team.

General Managerial Functions:
  • In collaboration with administration and department physician leaders, is responsible for administrative oversight of the Women and Children’s Health Center, including but not limited to management of provider templates and the clinical schedule, maintaining minimal unfilled appointment slots, timely open encounter resolution, clinic cycle time, patient experience, point of service collections, provider CARE model compliance and more.
  • Responsible for clinic finances and budgets, expense reports (including payroll and timesheet approval) and periodic variance evaluation and justification related to the Women’s and Children’s Health Center.
  • Use data to inform decision-making; collaborate with others to recommend and use dashboards or reports to enable data-driven management.
  • Understands and supports quality, safety and performanceimprovement initiatives based on organization or clinic priorities specifically geared towards Women and Children’s Health.
  • Hire, train,counsel, support, developand evaluate the performance of direct reports to current standards, expected behaviors, corporate values and policies.
  • Adhere to leadership expectations and maintain semiannual performance evaluations on all direct reports.
  • Oversee timesheet approval for the providers to ensure that it matches the applicable master schedules.
  • Evaluate and manage clinical equipment and other assets and recommend necessary expenditures to the Director of Operations.
  • Oversees the day-to-day productivity of staff (performance management, corrective action, or medical leave of absences).
  • Works collaboratively with providers, residents, and clinic leaders to identify and resolve unit operational problems, process improvements and promote a positive patient experience.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Clinic and office environment, requiring computer usage (prolonged sitting, eye strain)

TRAVEL

Minimal travel between CMU clinic locations and local hospitals. Occasional conference travel.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field. Master’s degree desired.
  • Minimum five years of experience in clinical leadership (ambulatory setting preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills that encourage harmonious working relationships with individuals in the health and educational settings.
  • Must possess strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
