What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Command Credit Corp?
Command Credit Corp is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, be proficient in QuickBooks, and possess strong analytical & Excel skills. This position is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with various accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and update the general ledger for accurate financial records.
- Record journal entries and ensure timely reconciliations of all accounts.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and manage vendor relationships.
- Generate and send customer invoices, follow up on payments, and assist with AR aging analysis.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare bank and account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial performance and variances to provide insights to management.
- Tax and Compliance:
- Assist with preparing and submitting sales tax returns and other compliance filings.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- QuickBooks Management:
- Manage daily operations within QuickBooks, including data entry, and transaction recording.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with QuickBooks accounting best practices.
- Other Duties:
- Collaborate with the accounting team to streamline processes.
- Maintain and organize financial records and documentation.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting roles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop and/or online versions).
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong Excel skills is a must.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in B2B services environment preferred.
- Familiarity with other financial management software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).
- Experience in multi-state sales tax preparation.
- CPA or working towards certification is a plus.
