Job Overview
The Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department is seeking field limited term employees to inventory and control priority invasive species infestations.
Key Responsibilities
- Control priority invasive plant infestations on private and public properties.
- Work under the direction of a SWCD Conservationist, collaborating with other staff in the field and possibly citizen volunteers.
- Conduct boat inspections and provide education to anglers and recreationalists through the Clean Boats Clean Waters program.
- Inventory and map new and existing invasive plant populations within Door County.
- Maintain tools and equipment necessary for tasks and record all invasive management actions and herbicide applications.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma and one year training in a science-related field or related experience in land management.
- Experience recognizing plant and animal species, especially invasive species in Door County.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in natural resource management, environmental studies, biology, land management, scientific research, or related field.
- Herbicide certifications in Rights of Way and Aquatics through the Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection.
- Experience working with or knowledge of natural systems, particularly plant or invasive species.
