General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, February 27, 2023.
On a relief basis, provides a variety of treatment and/or prevention services to clients with a wide range of psychiatric, emotional, relational, substance abuse or social problems for Emergency Services; may provide consultation and education services to specific populations; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Provide telephone coverage and emergency evaluations for emergency services as scheduled. Provide on-call and after hours coverage as scheduled and as needed. Provide pre-screening evaluations per State Code. Possess the ability to assess severe mental health and substance use problems and have a thorough understanding of legal and local TDO procedures and practices. Have knowledge of wide range of psychiatric profiles and knowledge of interventions and psychotherapy.
Considerable knowledge of principles of community mental health and/or intellectual disabilities and/or substance use; considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one (1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR , a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR , any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
This hourly position works in a relief capacity as needed. Valid Virginia driver's license, TB Screening, and Child Protective Services Record Check required, upon hire.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Must hold or be qualified to work toward licensure or accreditation for the appropriate discipline.
