General Summary
Working in accordance with the established mission, policies, and procedures, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the Human Resources team with planning, coordinating and administering the personnel activities for the Community.
Principle Duties
Essential Job Duties
1. Assist with reconciling time cards for accuracy before submitting payroll. Ensure all time edit data entries are accompanied by the completed time edit sheets. (Signed/dated by both the employee and supervisor)
2. Report all new hires, status changes (leaves of absence, classification and wage changes) and changes that affect participation in benefit programs for community staff.
3. Ensure that Corporate and state requirements for completion of all post offer / pre- employment checks (criminal background, abuse and licensure checks, drug testing, health/communicable disease screenings) are requested and completed (prior to the employee’s start date) and documented in the employee’s personnel file.
4. Manage the planning and preparation of New Hire Orientation(s) with the community leadership team and with new hires.
5. Manage all employees’ training records and prepares training certificates for employee personnel file.
6. Tracks employee renewals for specific certifications/licenses.
7. Update OSHA form in compliance with reported work-related injuries/illnesses.
8. Provide all eligible new hires benefits packets and ensure receipt documentation is placed in file.
9. Assist with planning and preparation of employee engagement functions at the Community.
10. Manage the new hire processing including fingerprint scanning and new hire orientation sessions.
11. Take minutes at staff meetings.
12. Maintain all community communication, staff meetings and posting notices in employee break room.
13. As Culture Committee Chair, partner with culture team with planning and preparation of employee engagement functions at the community.
Other Duties
1. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
2. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
1. A minimum of one year experience in a human resource department or similar work preferred.
2. Associate’s Degree preferred, but will accept work experience in an office or other professional environment.
3. Ability to use Microsoft Office software effectively.
4. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with staff and managers.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. Must be able to speak English. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
