ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a part-time position with the opportunity for full time hours starting in the Spring. As a Busser/Runner, you are primarily responsible for assisting servers during service, anticipating the next step in the flow of the guests dining experience, and maintaining a clean environment for the guests in the hotel restaurant. You will work closely with the servers by offering water service, marking tables with the correct silverware, accurately running food to guests, and by having an in-depth knowledge of our food and beverage menus. You will provide a clean and pleasant dining experience by clearing, sanitizing, and resetting tables, ensuring the dining room is well-stocked and tidy. You will communicate with the guests in a professional manner appropriate for an upscale restaurant setting.
Essential Duties:
- Be able to clear and clean tables in an efficient and timely manner.
- Be able to maintain a clean and organized dining area, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down tables, and restocking condiments and other supplies.
- Provide fine dining table service including proper marking, clearing, and table maintenance
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of food and beverage menus
- Communicate effectively with servers and other dining room staff to ensure smooth operation of service.
- Be able to assist in other departments within the restaurant when needed.
- Be able to grasp, lift, carry, and move large bus trays of food, plates, utensils, and glasses weighing a maximum of 20 lbs.
- Be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
Specific Requirements of this role:
- Continuously clear used glasses, dishes, and silverware from the dining room tables, bar top, and lounge area, and transport them to the dishwashing area.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Communication with co-workers and guests in a professional manner appropriate for an upscale restaurant setting
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to dining room service.
- Set up and clean down tables between customers, including, but not limited to, folding napkins, cleaning, and placing tableware, serving water, etc.
- Monitor the floor spaces for needed sweeping, reconfiguring of furniture, spills, etc.
- Assist food servers in delivering food and drinks to guest tables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred.
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment a plus.
- Proven work experience, hotel level food serving preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- California Food Handler Card.
