We are seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor 2 to join our Child Welfare team in Burns. This is an in-office position in a small, full-service office. What you need to qualify: A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services and one year of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience; or A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and one year of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services; or An associate degree and three years of human services related experience one year of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; or An associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND one year lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services. A valid driver license and acceptable driving record are necessary for this position. Essential attributes: We are looking for candidates with the following: Experience working in a Child Welfare office. Prior supervisory experience. As a Child Welfare Supervisor, you will: Supervise staff ensuring the mission of the Department of Human Services is carried out by providing services directly to children and families using cultural competency and humility, demonstrating the department’s core values, providing excellent customer service, and carrying out administrative functions as needed. Ensure that staff operate within good social work practices, state and federal laws, and department policy and procedures. Provide general training, orientation, mentoring, consultation, continuous review of programs and standards which affect the quality, safety, and permanency of children's lives. Be responsible for maintaining cooperative working relationships with community partners, children, and families. Make decisions about the level and type of services provided to client families. Assist with managing temp lodging scheduling, coverage, and monitoring as needed. Supervise case aides, paralegals, and coaching and training specialists. Working conditions: Usual office work and supervision is required with periodic travel and occasional overnight trips. Employee must be willing to take emergency night and weekend calls. Position may require public relations work, including occasional meetings and public speaking. Some use of a personal vehicle may be required. Phone and office contact with clients including angry, upset, or hostile clients is necessary. Irregular work hours and some weekend work are expected.
