Job Title: IT Junior Systems Administrator

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience); and
- Experience in an educational setting is preferred, but not required.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory management;
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or Google Workspace for Education;
- Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP);
- Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions, such as Microsoft Intune; and
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Vmware, HyperV).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with non-technical users; and
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Essential Responsibilities:
Systems Administration
- Assist in managing and maintaining server infrastructure, including Windows Server environments and cloud services like Microsoft Azure;
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches on servers, systems, and devices:
- Support the implementation of security protocols to safeguard district data and systems: and
- Assist in the maintenance of VMware Vcenter environment, including security patches, server deployment, and setup.
Network/Security Support
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues;
- Assist in managing firewalls, switches, and access points to ensure a reliable network for educational needs;
- Support the integration of new network equipment and systems; and
- Work with security engineer to harden servers, build firewall rules, and improve security posture.
Device and Software Management
- Provide technical support for district devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartboards;
- Assist with deploying and managing applications, including Microsoft 365 and educational software; and
- Collaborate with the Systems Architect to enforce device management policies using tools like Intune.
Help Desk and Support
- Act as the first point of contact for tier 3 IT-related issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution;
- Assist staff and students with hardware and software troubleshooting; and
- Maintain accurate documentation of tickets, issues, and resolutions.
Technology Integration
- Collaborate with educators and staff to support the integration of technology in classrooms; and
- Help ensure compliance with district policies and procedures for technology use.
Work Hours
- 8) Hours per day/245 day contract;
- Supervisor may assign additional work hours;
- Employee performs On-Call and Call-Back duties as assigned; and
- Employee is required to perform Emergency Call-Back.
