Industrial Instructor II - Water System Plant Operator - Bridgewater

Conducts routine and specialized maintenance and repairs physical facilities; Supervises the same when conducted by outside venders/contractors. Perform daily overall duties per established practices under the direction of the Water Plant Supervisor. Respond to emergencies 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Organize daily work under minimum supervision. Inspect grounds, pump station, well, tanks, hydrants, treatment facilities, telemetry and charts, and samplings to ensure good and proper working conditions. Complete paperwork, records, and reports, takes water samples, meter readings and implements D.E.P. regulations and monitors meet standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

A minimum of one-year water plant operations and maintenance experience. Plumber’s and/or electrician license is not required but encouraged. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and detailed knowledge of water operations. Specific knowledge of chemical processing, water sampling, calibration of equipment, handling hazardous chemical spills and pump station maintenance. Physically able to complete required tasks on the job and availability to respond 24 hours a day for emergencies.

This is a Civil Service position. Candidate must take and pass the next Civil Service Examination for this title and score must be reached in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement.
