About This Location
Dunn Animal Hospital, located in Dunn, NC, is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our progressive, full-service small animal hospital. We are a two-doctor, small animal practice that endeavors to provide top-tier services to all our clients. We have a team dedicated to providing the best service and support to our wonderful clients based on exceptional communication, honesty, compassion, and a deep-seated love for both our patients and their families.
This position will provide the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community by helping animals and clients while working with a great group of team members.
This is a full-time position and candidate must be available to work on alternating weekends and some holidays.

HOURS
Monday - Wednesday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:30PM
Tuesday - Thursday
8:00AM - 7:00PM
Qualifications/Requirements
Certified veterinary technician or new graduate awaiting certification is required.
(Will consider candidates for a veterinary assistant position with a minimum of one-year proven veterinary experience.)
The preferred candidate should have basic veterinary knowledge such as:
- Vaccine Protocols
- Venipuncture and Lab Testing
- Heartworm and Flea Prevention
- Animal Handling/Husbandry
Candidate must:
- Possess strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to work in stressful situations while in a fast-paced environment
- Be dependable, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and be willing to learn
- Be able to work harmoniously with team members
Job Description
- Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, and owner education.
- Perform initial evaluation of patient condition. Advise doctor of findings, nature of visit, along with preventive care due, and client concerns.
- Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner during exams and procedures.
- Obtain and prepare laboratory samples as required by doctor, e.g. urine, fecal, and ear cytology.
- Use of digital radiology.
- Prepare and set up for surgical procedures.
- Induction and maintenance of anesthesia.
- Monitor recovery of surgery patients and communicate with clients per hospital policy.
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately as directed by doctor. Ensure medications are charted appropriately and charged correctly to the client.
- Monitor hospitalized pets and perform treatments as directed by doctor.
- Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and team members.
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.
Salary Range
$29,000 - $36,000
Competitive wage based on licensure and experience.
