DESCRIPTION
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of business operations, with a strong focus on customer service, sales performance, merchandising and staff training. As the primary sales expert and key contact for Personal Shopping and Strategic Sales Information, the AGM plays a critical role in driving revenue growth while ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role requires a proactive leader who can effectively manage daily store operations, mentor staff and implement strategies that align with business objectives. This is a dynamic leadership position for someone passionate about retail, sales strategy and team development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Customer Service:
- Serve as the primary sales expert, providing guidance and leadership to the team to maximize sales performance.
- Drive customer engagement by modeling and reinforcing the DCB customer service journey, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable shopping experience.
- Directly assist customers with Personal Shopping needs, offering expert product recommendations and tailored shopping experiences.
- Act as the main point of contact for Strategic Sales Information
- Analyze customer data and sales trends to inform business decisions.
- Handle customer complaints and feedback promptly, providing solutions and coaching staff to enhance service quality.
- Support the General Manager in executing strategies to improve conversion rates, average order value (AOV) and overall sales performance.
Talent Management & Training:
- Train and develop team members to enhance their product knowledge, sales techniques and customer service skills.
- Conduct ongoing coaching sessions, including on-the-spot feedback and structured training programs.
- Assist in the onboarding and continuous training of new hires, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to the team.
- Partner with the General Manager to create employee engagement initiatives and team-building activities.
- Monitor staff performance and assist in scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and optimal productivity.
- Ensure the Mystery Shopper Survey is integrated into all training and performance reviews, reinforcing key priorities and best practices that align with the brand standards set by Dylan for each store team.
Merchandising & Inventory Management:
- Oversee visual merchandising strategies to ensure a compelling and well-organized store layout.
- Work closely with the Buying and Planning teams to provide insights on customer preferences and sales trends.
- Monitor stock levels, identify fast-moving products and coordinate with inventory teams to ensure timely replenishment.
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) product rotation practices to maintain inventory accuracy and freshness.
Operational Excellence:
- Support daily operational functions, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain high store standards by ensuring cleanliness, organization and proper zoning of staff.
- Assist in loss prevention efforts by monitoring security procedures and enforcing operational policies.
- Ensure that all pricing, promotions and markdown strategies are executed consistently and effectively.
Marketing & Brand Development:
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Marketing team to plan in-store events, promotions and brand activations.
- Identify local partnership opportunities to increase store traffic and expand the customer base.
- Track customer insights and sales data to support marketing initiatives and drive business growth.
Financial & Business Performance:
- Support the General Manager in analyzing store financials, identifying opportunities to optimize sales and reduce costs.
- Monitor key performance metrics, including sales targets, customer retention and conversion rates.
- Assist in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure efficient store operations.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- 3–4 years of sales management experience preferred, with a proven track record of driving results and leading successful teams.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, though relevant experience will be considered.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Exceptional skills in organization, decision-making, problem-solving, multitasking, follow-up, and team building.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external customers, as well as corporate partners.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial and business indicators, translating data into actionable strategies that drive performance.
