What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center?
POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accountant will complete all general accounting/finance duties and responsibilities of the finance department as directed by the Controller and CFO/COO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the Easterseals accounting/financial records in accordance with all FASB and General Accepted Accounting Principles.
Complete daily maintenance/update of General ledgers, accounts, and records as necessary in order to maintain financial accountability and proper record keeping of the financial and related non-financial transactions of the Agency in order to provide financial records, financial statements, reports and other information for the operation of the Agency.
Prepare Federal, State and other grant accounting(s)/report(s)/internal reporting including monthly, quarterly and annual as required by funding and regulatory agencies, or as directed.
Collect data for annual budgets, assist in development and compiling information for annual budget preparation and keying in of budget information into accounting system.
Maintain balance sheet account balances, including reconciling assets, liabilities, net assets, revenues and expenses as required and directed.
Prepare detailed departmental payroll reports, and accruals for use in accounting records.
Prepare, enter and post journal entries.
Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare reports of payroll and expense allocations as directed.
Assist in covering for accounts receivable, payables, payroll, bank reconciliations as needed and as directed.
Notify the Finance Office Manager and/or CFO/COO of any breach of policies and procedures and/or generally accepted accounting principles.
Assist in recommending and implementing internal accounting controls, policies and procedures.
Perform all other related duties as required and directed.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience in a financial area preferably in a nonprofit medical environment.
