CAREER NAVIGATOR
The UpSkill Coastal Bend Career Navigator will serve as the area program lead, as well as provide direct services related to recruiting, assessing, supporting, and documenting students who are interested in college or career assistance. The purpose of this position is to increase the number of adults in our community with postsecondary certificates or credentials as well as provide support related to local workforce and economic development initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement outreach and recruitment strategies designed to re-engage adults with some college (cold calling, emails, text messages, etc .. ).
- Serve as the UpSkill Coastal Bend outreach liaison while scheduling, planning, and participating in a minimum of three (3) monthly community events in the assigned county.
- Plan, organize, and promote targeted upskilling/reskilling workshops, events, and activities.
- Maintain a caseload of program participants who require specialized assistance with job placement and/or completion of postsecondary degree, certification, or credential.
- Utilize resources from regional partners, as appropriate, to ensure that program objectives and target outcomes are accomplished.
- Assist students in applying for programs, grants, and financial support.
- Utilize the established data management system to document student contacts and maintain accurate files in accordance with FERP A guidelines.
- Develop and implement interagency referral processes with education institutions and community organizations to ensure streamlined service delivery to program participants.
- Work with partnering institutions to connect returning adults with admissions representatives, including financial aid, academic advising, and student success services, as well as to community service providers.
- Assist with completing and submitting grant reports.
- Maintain weekly program data, records, and statistical information utilizing Salesforce CRM software with a high degree of accuracy and data integrity.
- Collect, input, and analyze data to assist with preparation of scheduled and specialized reports.
- Assist residents with coordinating career development activities (e.g. post-secondary education, apprenticeships, internships, etc.).
- Develop reports on activities conducted with residents and outcomes.
- Assist local officials with planning and coordinating workforce-related events.
- Assist local officials with coordinating and maintaining training/conference/other bookings of classrooms and conference rooms.
- Assist local officials with planning/execution of workforce development programming including employer recruitment, workforce grants, entrepreneurship programming, etc.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Computer application skills, including Word, Excel, and a data management system.
- Efficient, detail oriented, self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and work well with minimal supervision.
- Actively participate as a strong team member.
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work Saturdays and evenings, as needed.
- Ability to problem solve.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Public Administration, Management, or related field
- Two (2) years of experience in education, workforce, or economic development programs
- One (1) year of recruiting, sales, or customer service experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with student recruiting and advising
- Experience in coordinating referrals to community partners.
- Experience in providing adult support and case management.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and CRM databases
- Ability to work independently or as a team member depending on the situation.
