General Maintenance Worker – Salt Lake City, UT
NCS/EML Joint Venture is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Worker to perform various repairs and maintenance tasks on a Government Contract for multiple Federal Buildings in Salt Lake City, UT.
SUMMARY
Primarily performs general carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, suspended ceiling and masonry work, and other duties as assigned. This position requires practical, basic skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) of mechanical (HVAC), plumbing and electrical concepts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs general maintenance on buildings, equipment, and machinery.
- Replaces damaged wall panels and floor/ceiling tiles.
- Uses plaster or drywall compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings
- Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken window panes.
- Paints structures and equipment.
- Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
- Replace lamps and ballasts in a verity of light fixtures
- Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
- Service HVAC equipment.
- Various plumbing related repairs and service, such as repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets. To include clearing drain stoppages in sinks and toilets.
- Other duties as required by the company may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must possess an established work history of recent (within the past 7 years) of relevant experience in the repair and maintenance tasks comparable in complexity to types covered by this contract. The successful candidate will be expected to be highly driven and be a capable self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: square footage, cubic footage, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
