What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Essential Services of Oregon?
The primary goal of the Payroll Specialist is to assist the Direct Support Professionals in recording their daily schedules, monitoring overtime usage, and verifying shift locations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing data relevant to accurate pay cycles, data entry for new and renewed clients, and troubleshooting various applications and software required for precise recording of Direct Support Professionals' activity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring employee rosters are updated and accurate.
- Communicate with DSPs regarding missed clock in/out.
- Review of the hours and mileage of clients stay within the allotment.
- Monitoring overtime usage.
- Create reports for payroll cycles that accurately reflect hours worked.
- Create reports for case managers that accurately reflect hours of services provided to clients, mileage used, and notes detailing accomplished tasks.
- Upload the hours worked and mileage driven to the State of Oregon for the pay period.
- Assist DSPs in ensuring the necessary phone applications are being used properly.
- Create new client entries and ensure all documents are valid.
- Process renewed client paperwork and update the system.

The Payroll Specialist shall have the following minimum qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a DHS criminal background check.
- Being legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Type at least 40 WPM.
- Able to learn new software as needed.
- Demonstrate by experience, education, skills, and abilities that they are capable of safely and adequately performing all tasks as assigned.
