Local PEO is seeking a Payroll Assistant with analytical and problem solving skills to join our exceptional team. The Payroll Assistant must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels of employees and management. This position plays an important role working together with our team to achieve our company's goal of exceeding client's expectations.
The Payroll Assistant provides assistance across all functional areas regarding human resources and payroll processing. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as the first point of contact for clients and employees by answering the phones and greeting visitors.
- Payroll input and processing on a daily basis using an HRIS platform.
- Assisting clients and employees with onboarding of new hires, employee profile maintenance and terminations within the HRIS.
- Manages the ordering and distribution of employee pay cards.
- Electronic file maintenance.
- Responsible for daily packing and distribution of paychecks.
- Responsible for managing unemployment claims process.
- Support year-end activities, distribute and reprint W-2 forms.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
The following skills are required, but not limited to:
- Prefer minimum of 1 year experience in HR/Payroll.
- High school diploma required and college degree preferred.
- Strong computer skills when using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated payroll system, Microsoft Office, proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Ability to foster relationships while being flexible and able to switch focus as needed.
- Professional demeanor with strong customer services skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills with good judgment and problem solving skills.
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously both independently and as a part of a team.
- Must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, be able to prioritize multiple tasks and solve problems with initiative.
