We are seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Inspector to join the Project Services (PS) group within the Engineering Services (ES) department. The successful candidate will oversee fiber optic projects for a major customer in Pennsylvania, specifically in the areas of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU), and Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) projects. The position requires local presence and daily travel to job sites, with the candidate being within one hour of the project sites assigned.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
- Daily Vendor Activity Reporting: Collect and report on daily vendor activities during the construction and testing of fiber optic plants.
- Project Review: Familiarize yourself with project drawings and specifications to understand the scope and requirements.
- Monitor Construction: Oversee fiber optic plant construction activities to ensure compliance with customer guidelines, manufacturer standard recommended procedures (SRP), and industry best practices.
- Site Evaluations: Visit project sites regularly to assess progress, address customer or project manager concerns, and direct contractor activities when necessary.
- Sitetracker Reporting: Report daily production and vendor activities using the Sitetracker mobile system.
- Material Inventory Support: Provide support for managing material inventory consumption.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce and adhere to safety rules and practices as mandated by governing authorities and customer requirements.
- Construction Methods and Procedures: Understand and implement local construction methods and practices as required for the project.
- Quality Inspections: Perform quality inspections for ongoing and completed work, utilizing established checklists and other quality-related documents in Sitetracker.
- Additional Duties: Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Prior experience in fiber optic construction or a similar role is highly preferred.
- Licensing: Valid US Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Required Skills:
- Independent Work: Ability to work independently and be self-directed while managing construction projects.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and understand FTTX (Fiber-to-the-Home) prints and technical drawings.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills for daily reporting and addressing concerns.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members.
- Flexibility: Ability to work outside of normal business hours when needed.
- Fluency: Fluent in English, both written and verbal communication.
