Position Overview:
The Outreach Coordinator is a 4-year grant funded position. The position will be responsible for coordinating project activities, supporting stakeholders, and ensuring the successful implementation of culturally responsive, gender-affirming educational and healthcare initiatives for 2SLGBTQIA youth, their families, educators, and healthcare providers. This position will also play a key role in supporting Gender Hive’s Program Manager in projects that focus on improving academic, mental health, and community outcomes for 2SLGBTQIA students in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Outreach

  • Create and maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, and other communication opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a database of community contacts.
  • Promote Gender Hive at community events and spaces (e.g., speaking, tabling, canvassing, flyering).
  • Initiate and cultivate relationships with community members including trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse (TGD) community members; families of TGD youth; healthcare and social service providers; and community supporters via in-person networking, phone/video calls, and email communications.
  • Identify community resources for inclusion on the Gender Hive website

Communications

  • Create print and digital materials to promote Gender Hive and its programs.
  • Support the development and delivery of donor communications.
  • Create and post content to Gender Hive’s website and social media accounts.

Event Logistics

  • Lead event planning and logistics, including pre and post event communications (e.g., reminders, follow-up).

Program Coordination

  • Community Engagement, Outreach & Marketing
  • Actively engage 2SLGBTQIA students through Youth Advisory Councils, student groups, and other community channels.
  • Collaborate with school districts, healthcare providers, and community organizations to address the specific needs of 2SLGBTQIA students in rural areas.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to ensure that students from rural communities are informed and included in program activities.
  • Create promotional materials, manage social media, and coordinate outreach campaigns.

Training Support

  • Support the development and facilitation of foundational 2SLGBTQIA inclusion training for educators and healthcare providers.
  • Assist in the creation of culturally-responsive materials to support 2SLGBTQIA youth, their families, and their support networks.
  • Help organize and coordinate ongoing professional development opportunities, including the ECHO training model for healthcare providers and community-based educators.
  • Coordinate logistics for Gender Hive staff to attend annual conferences (i.e., Resource Retreat, and the Oregon School-Based Health Center Conference).

Data Collection, Reporting, and Evaluation

  • Assist the team with collecting and analyzing data to track progress toward project milestones and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities.
  • Help prepare reports for internal teams, stakeholders, and grant funders, ensuring all deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Participate in periodic evaluations and provide input on program modifications or improvements based on data and community feedback.

Community Partnerships & Sustainability

  • Work with local and regional partners (i.e. school districts, public health, School-Based Health Centers, etc.) to ensure the sustainability and long-term success of the program.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and healthcare providers to strengthen the program’s impact.

Administrative Support

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for events, meetings, and training sessions, including securing venues, materials, and technology.
  • Manage and update databases, participant records, and resource lists to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, community development, communications or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in outreach, marketing, program coordination or project coordination, ideally within education, public health, or LGBTQ2SIA advocacy.
  • Demonstrated experience working with 2SLGBTQIA communities, especially youth and their families.
  • Knowledge of culturally-responsive practices and gender-affirming care, particularly in rural or underserved areas.
  • Experience working with educators, healthcare providers, or community organizations to implement training or educational programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise, and compelling content for a variety of audiences and in multiple formats (writing, public speaking, graphics, etc.)
  • Demonstrated networking skills to form and maintain positive and trusting relationships with trans and gender-diverse individuals, volunteers, community partners, and donors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with major social media platforms, Wordpress, Canva, Google Workspace (Drive, Slides, etc.), Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
  • Familiarity with the health-related needs of trans and gender-diverse populations and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise, and compelling content for a variety of audiences and in multiple formats (i.e., writing, public speaking, graphics)
  • Demonstrated networking skills to form and maintain positive and trusting relationships with trans and gender-diverse individuals, volunteers, community partners, and donors.
  • Strong commitment to equity, anti-racism, and inclusion, with a focus on supporting 2SLGBTQIA students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to travel within Central Oregon and attend occasional evening or weekend events.
  • Ability to work flexibly, adapting to the unique needs of rural communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or with rural communities.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA issues in education and healthcare, especially in rural or frontier contexts.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with staff and project partners and must be able to communicate information in these situations.
  • Occasionally moves and load/unload outreach equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds across various activities and events.
  • Operates a computer and other office equipment such as scanners and printers.
  • Must be able to travel/drive and/or attend in-person meetings or trainings across 20-60 miles.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
