Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves providing exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring both maternal and neonatal health. Duties
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
- Provide support and education to patients regarding the birthing process.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and assist with IV insertion as needed.
- Administer medications and manage pain relief options for patients.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Document patient information accurately in medical records, including MDS assessments.
- Assist with phlebotomy procedures as required for laboratory testing.
- Provide care for patients with developmental disabilities, ensuring their unique needs are met throughout the labor process.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to childbirth.
- Experience in inpatient settings, particularly in labor and delivery units.
- Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to maternal-fetal health.
- Previous experience in travel nursing is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor during critical situations.
