Remote Director of Solutions Delivery for Investments | WFH

Job Overview

We are in search of an accomplished and driven Director of Solutions Delivery to spearhead a talented IT team that supports our Investment-related business units. This pivotal leadership position entails overseeing a cross-functional agile team committed to enhancing the platforms and applications across Investments, Investment Accounting, Investment Risk, and Investment Data & Analytics. You will play a crucial role in augmenting essential IT capabilities, including custom software development, data integrations, and configuring third-party tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the development, maintenance, and performance optimization of applications pertinent to Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting.
• Manage daily vendor relationships associated with Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting.
• Act as the principal escalation point for all technology-related challenges concerning Investment Strategy and Investment Accounting applications.
• Supervise the Investments Technical Architecture and the automation capabilities for the business unit.
• Collaborate with the Investments business unit to grasp their strategic roadmap and convert it into actionable technological initiatives and solutions.
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams such as Architecture, Engineering, and Chief of Staff to ensure synchronization with the wider enterprise strategy.
• Lead both internal and external development teams (including Project Managers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and Analysts) to effectively deliver technology services.
• Oversee solutions delivery efforts, incorporating planning, design estimation, and ensuring that all solutions align with quality assurance standards.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and provide relevant insights to leadership to inform future directions.
• Manage vendor relationships to guarantee compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), performance expectations, and contractual terms.
• Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and determine the buy versus build approach for solutions, including contract negotiation and establishing SLAs and performance metrics.
• Ensure timely project delivery, budget adherence, and fulfillment of business needs.
• Ensure compliance of all solutions with security, compliance, and disaster recovery standards.
• Phase out legacy systems and solutions to ensure peak performance.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage risks related to roadmaps, architectures, and frameworks to minimize exposure and ensure compliance.
• Oversee resource estimation, project design, and management of both internal teams and external vendors.
  
  

Required Skills

• Extensive leadership experience within the Life and Annuity Insurance or Investments sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of Investment and Investment Accounting processes, automation trends, and industry best practices.
• Technical proficiency in applications architecture, frameworks, and enterprise solutions delivery.
• Strong background in agile project management; certifications are advantageous.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently while keeping a strong focus on business objectives.
• Proven expertise in financial statements, metrics, and reporting.
• Solid grounding in testing principles, tools, and environments.
• Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities with internal teams and external vendors.
• Current knowledge of information security, compliance, and disaster recovery principles.
• Business-oriented mindset with a solid fiscal understanding of budgets, ROI, and cost-benefit analysis.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 8 years of leadership experience in applications architecture and development.
• 5 years of experience managing outsourced vendors, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, and internal teams.
• 3 years of experience overseeing cross-functional development teams.
• Proven financial and contract management experience.
• Experience with Business Process Reengineering, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies is a plus.
