PURPOSE
Girl Power is seeking a Temporary Full-time Camp Assistant for our 2024 Summer STEAM Workforce Training Camp for the Homestead Middle School location. Under the supervision of the Director of Programs the Camp Assistant provides support with the day-to-day functions of the summer camp, ensures the implementation of daily activities and communicate with parents/guardians, partners and camp staff. Camp Assistants are responsible for the supervision of all camp staff, the safety of all campers and are expected to contribute to the positive environment of the Summer STEAM Workforce Training Camp.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma
2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar position highly recommended.
3. Familiar with nonprofit organization preferred.
4. Passion for working with at-promise girls with an emphasis on girls pre-disposed to trauma.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Works well independently in a fast-paced environment.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend mandatory trainings as necessary.
2. Assist Summer Camp Director (SCD) with overall responsibility to ensure that program goals and objectives are clearly stated and work in respectful manner with other staff members to ensure that program activities are focused on achievement of stated goals.
3. Assist with the registration and intake process of summer camp participants.
4. Assist SCD with the supervision of camp program participants.
5. Assist with the supervision of summer camp interns.
6. Responsible for assisting with planning and logistics for field trips.
7. Responsible for assisting with planning of all summer camp activities including facilitating evidence based curriculum sessions.
8. Serve as liaison between parents and SCD.
9. Respond effectively to risk management policies and procedures.
10. Assume the SCD’s responsibilities when off-site or off duty.
11. Oversee the scheduling of field trips.
12. Oversee the set up and break down of the camp.
13. Report daily to the Camp Director regarding day to day operations of the camp.
14. Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the SCD.
15. Conduct oneself in the best interest of Girl Power and in support of Girl Power’s mission statement.
16. Other duties as assigned.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
Temporary Full Time Position: June 10th – August 2nd
Employee shall have a work schedule of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, Wednesday, 8 am to 5:30 pm and Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm for a total of 40 hours per week.
$20 per hour
