What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Teen Leadership Coordinator position at Girl Scouts San Diego Summer Camp Positions?

Your summer will look like this:
Develop and deliver a training program for counselors-in-training (CIT) and other leadership development camp programs for all ages and abilities, which includes the teaching of camping skills, appreciation of the outdoors, group living skills, leadership skills, child development, camp traditions, team building, camper behavior management, risk management and the history of Girl Scouts.
Assist in integrating Counselors-in-Training (CITs) and Leaders-in-Training (LITs) into the activities of the entire camp.
Support and evaluate LITs/CITs, giving guidance and feedback.
Serve as a role model to LITs/CITs and other staff of appropriate counselor behavior.
Coordinate and schedule internships for CIT graduates.
Organize and maintain LIT/CIT binder with information on each LIT/CIT and workshop.
Always ensure health and safety of LITs/CITs and other campers from leadership programs and ensure they are participating members of the camp and are representing themselves as appropriate role models for other campers.
Assist in the opening and closing of the unit and camp, including a written inventory of equipment, program supplies and evaluation of the program.
Keep health care supervisor informed of health and safety of LITs/CITs and checks with health care supervisor to keep first aid kit properly supplied.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

Experience and Skills:
Here is what it takes:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to commit to and work June 9 – August 9, 2025
- Experience teaching in a non-traditional setting with experiential and/or peer learning models.
- Ability to work with children and staff of different ages.
- Ability to lead, train and relate to older girls.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of day camp management.
- Must have a very high level of maturity and good judgement.
- Ability to assist in the selecting, training, and supervising of staff and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team setting with diverse person.
- Have at least one (1) year of experience as a counselor in a camp setting.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or able to obtain certification before the first day of work.
- Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.
- Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and Girl Scouts San Diego mission, vision and values.
