We are looking for an exceptional Sonography Supervisor to join a team of patient-centered professionals who have a culture of caring for each other while providing an excellent patient experience.
Job Summary
The Sonography Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily ultrasound operations, ensuring high-quality imaging services, managing sonography staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position involves both hands-on clinical work and administrative leadership to support the department’s efficiency, quality assurance, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the sonography department
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures as needed, ensuring adherence to best practices
- Train, mentor, and evaluate sonography staff to maintain a high standard of performance
- Ensure compliance with ARDMS, AIUM, ACR, HIPAA, and other regulatory guidelines
- Develop and implement protocols to enhance imaging quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes
- Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and scheduling maintenance as needed
- Oversee scheduling, workflow optimization, and department resource allocation
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and professional development of sonography staff
- Monitor patient satisfaction and implement improvements to enhance the patient experience
Qualifications & Requirements
- ARDMS certification required (with specialties in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Sciences, or related field
- Valid Vermont state licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage both administrative and clinical responsibilities
