Position Summary
The Communications Director is responsible for overseeing all media promotions, ensuring cohesive and effective messaging across all church communication platforms. This includes the church’s website, church app, social media, and other digital and print materials. This individual will develop and execute robust promotional plans for events in coordination with Ministry Leaders, utilizing all available promotional resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Media and Digital Oversight
- Manage and maintain the church’s website, app, and social media platforms to ensure timely and relevant content.
- Oversee content creation, including graphics, videos, and written materials, to maintain consistency with the church’s branding and messaging.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to inquiries or comments in a timely and appropriate manner.
2. Promotion Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement promotional plans for church events as determined by Ministry Leaders.
- Utilize all promotional resources, including digital, print, video, and verbal announcements, to maximize event awareness.
- Coordinate with ministry teams to understand their communication needs and provide strategic guidance on marketing efforts.
3. Content Development and Branding
- Ensure all communication aligns with the church’s mission, vision, and brand identity.
- Write and edit copy for promotional materials, website updates, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Work with designers, videographers, and volunteers to create engaging promotional content.
4. Collaboration and Leadership
- Train and lead a team of volunteers to assist with media and communications efforts.
- Work closely with church staff and leadership to align communication strategies with overall ministry goals.
- Evaluate communication effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed to enhance engagement.
5. Additional Responsibilities
- Stay updated on digital marketing trends and tools to enhance church communication efforts.
- Manage the communications budget and allocate resources efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by church leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of the church.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and website management (e.g., WordPress, Subsplash, or similar CMS platforms).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Work Environment
- May require occasional evening and weekend work to support church events.
- Office environment with flexibility for remote work as needed.
