Position Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including interviewing and hiring staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Generalist will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to navigate relationships between staff members.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist with the interview and hiring process
- Administer payroll and employee benefits
- Ensure the proper onboarding and training of new hires
- Lead employee relations by acting as a liaison between employees and management, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws
Other Responsibilities:
- Track employee’s professional development.
- Facilitate the annual review of job descriptions and maintain a current organizational chart. Ensure that managers complete new job descriptions when new positions are created.
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including maintaining employee files, preparing documentation, and ensuring the accuracy of HR records.
- Conduct pre-employment background checks and I-9 documentation.
- Implement employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Maintain HR metrics and reports to track key performance indicators such as turnover, absenteeism, and employee engagement.
- Oversee the job evaluation / performance management system.
- Assist with employee communications and recognition program.
- Ensure proper offboarding.
- Assist in establishing and adhering to Chamber policies and procedures.
- Acts as front desk backup in the absence of the concierge. Greets and checks in visitors, and provides callers with relevant information as needed.
- Actively demonstrates commitment to the Chamber’s vision, mission, and organizational goals.
- Integrates the Chamber’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals within everyday duties.
Supervision Received:
General Direction: Plans and arranges own work. Uses a wide range of procedures to accomplish assigned objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education & Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree specializing in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
2. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in Human Resources. HR certification preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Extremely strong oral and written communication skills.
2. Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office, Scheduler, Outlook and internet.
3. Strong understanding of human resources principles, practices, and relevant labor laws (federal, state, and local).
4. Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, benefits administration systems.
5. Knowledge of compensation and benefits administration, performance management, and employee relations.
6. Understanding of recruitment strategies, employee development, and talent retention practices.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
8. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
9. Driven, independent, collaborative, adaptable.
10. Strong ethical standards and a commitment to promoting a positive organizational culture.
11. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task effectively.
