Additional Qualifications and Skills: The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree; in public health or social science strongly preferred.
- 3 years of experience in public health research strongly preferred
- Prior supervisory experience
- Prior financial management/budget experience.
- Project management, web management, grant writing, and/or event coordination experience
- Proven experience in strategizing, think operationally, organizing, and implementing research-based programs
- Strong skills in budget management
- Proven track record in working successfully in a diverse range of ethnic, cultural, and economic communities
- Proven listening, communication, writing, presentation, and problem-solving skill
- Strong writing skills with close attention to detail
- Strong project management experience with capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with a broad range of potential partners and audiences
- Take initiative regarding projects management and to identify opportunities for future growth
- Develop presentations, track activities, assess performance of various programmatic activities

Department:Social and Behavioral SciencesPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentityJob Function:General Administration Position Description: Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Center Responsibilities
- Strategic partner to the Director
- Support strategic planning process and implementation
- Support Center Director in thought leadership and broad high-level management support
- Align the Center's resources and programming with its mission
- Work with Center Director on setting priorities and fostering partnerships across the University and beyond'
Direct Center Operations
- Oversee all aspects of logistics and programmatic development
- Develop overall timeline for Center's multiple programs, coordinating efforts of staff, faculty, and fellows
- Develop strong working relationships with Center faculty and fellows
- Serve as key liaison between the Center and Harvard Chan, the Harvard community, and audiences beyond the University
Human Resources and financial management:
- Staff recruitment, hiring, managing, evaluating, and mentoring program staff
- Promote the professional development of new and more junior staff
- Manage Center spending and budgeting
- Forecast and prioritize future spending
Research Initiatives:
- Work closely with Center Director to oversee and develop research initiatives
- External relations/Fundraising
- Serve in a liaison capacity with the SPH Office for External Relations, writing and reviewing proposals and assisting in donor relations and the creation of related materials for fundraising
- Liaise with external constituents and donors and set strategic fundraising objectives
- Assist Center Director in developing proposals for fund-raising with various external agencies, donors and foundations
PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. The Center aims to develop tools to more accurately measure well-being and to translate scientific findings to influence public health practice and policy. The Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as an Assistant Director. Reporting to the Center Director, the Assistant Director will provide managerial oversight for the administrative, operational, financial, and strategic planning activities of the Center.
