As a Caster/Hot Mill Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing a comprehensive three-shift operation in the casting and hot mill sectors. This pivotal role encompasses the management of the refining process, ensuring optimal chemical compositions and temperature controls while effectively supervising the degassing process to uphold product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the casting and hot mill operations across three shifts.
- Ensure the correct parameters for each heat opening to maintain production quality.
- Track, plan, and maintain accurate production reports.
- Administer the labor agreement, provide training, monitor team performance, and enforce disciplinary measures as necessary.
- Implement and uphold safety policies, maintaining meticulous safety records.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges, identifying and executing corrective actions.
- Foster opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, contributing to the maintenance of quality management systems (TS 16949).
- Comprehensive understanding of primary steelmaking and casting processes.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles and practices.
- Fundamental maintenance skills and demonstrated supervisory experience, ideally within a unionized environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and NRS regulations.
- Proficient in data management, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
