Summary:

We are looking to hire a team player with a strong work ethic who has a firm grasp of accounting principles and procedures, enjoys problem-solving, has keen analytical skills with an attention to detail; and is dedicated to the overall success of the organization. This position will report directly to the Controller. This position is on-site at the office located in Aurora, CO.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with the monthly close process including preparation and posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses.

Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

Maintains accurate records for accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset ledgers.

Prepares monthly work order billings to residents, records receipts from residents, and reconciles the sub-ledger to the G/L.

Records bi-weekly payroll entries and reconciles payroll accounts with PEO reports.

Performs as backup to the Accounts Payable function.

Assists in preparing monthly financial reports.

Assists with determining proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.

Assists with the implementation of accounting systems and control procedures.

Assists with creating annual budgets and analyzing budget data for accuracy and reasonableness. Responsible for inputting annual budgets into accounting software and compiling budgets for presentation to management.

Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and Association procedures.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university preferred; and a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience. Experience with CCIOA is a plus. A CPA license is also a plus.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office software; advanced Excel skills; and a working knowledge of accounting software and payroll systems.

Language:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, including the ability to read and interpret a variety of documents such as spreadsheets, state statutes, and procedure manuals; as well as the ability to speak effectively with residents and employees of the Association.

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; analyze information skillfully and develop alternative solutions; synthesize complex or diverse information; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Requirements:

1. Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.

2. Must pass the background and drug screening tests.
