Hershey Animal Emergency Center is seeking a full time veterinary technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an ER setting to serve as our employee training and development coordinator.
Job duties include:
-new hire onboarding
-foster a positive adult learning environment
-responsible for developing, instituting, and administering training courses for current employees
-overseeing and coordinating staff training
-assessing and reporting training progress to technician managers, staffing manager and the partners/owners of HAEC
-maintains familiarity with all hospital SOPs
-Financial auditing to help improve charge capture
-conduct "gap" analysis as necessary to determine future training needs
-maintain meticulous records
-work very closely with our staffing manager
-facilitate and lead monthly training workshops on specific skills
-perform individual training sessions
-set up progress checks and training goals for each team member
About Hershey Animal Emergency Center:
HAEC opened in June of 2023 and became a 24/7/365 Emergency hospital on 1/1/24. We are proud to be a privately owned, women owned and vetmom owned hospital. We currently have 11 veterinarians on staff and over 50 support staff employees and our hospital is growing at a rapid pace.
We have full Idexx in-house laboratory and 2 heska EPOCs, digital x-ray, 2 ultrasound machines, a digital cytology machine, separate dog and cat ICU wards, 5 shoreline oxygen cages, functional Isolation room, 5 exam rooms, capacity to hospitalize up to 25 patients. We have a ligasure and electrocautery, endoscopy, a ventilator, snyder ICU oxygen cages (4), and an in house blood bank. We are basically paperless and use instinct as our practice management system. This allows for digital treatment sheets and a very efficient workflow.
Candidate requirements:
- Possess an exceptional skill set in triage, surgery, anesthesia and critical care.
- The ability to perform and teach advanced skills such as central line placement, cystocentesis, female urinary catheterization, nasogastric tube placement, sampling line placement, fecal foley placement and care, recover CPR, anesthesia monitoring, transfusion monitoring, and drug and CRI calculations.
- Ability to work on average 40 hours per week with weekend and occasional late evening shifts required.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience working in an Emergency Hospital setting ideally in a management or training position.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be an efficient, compassionate team member.
- Possess strong computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, social maturity
