The Opportunity

We are seeking a Laboratory & Quality Control Manager to lead and enhance our Lab and Quality Control functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of analytical chemistry, material testing, and product development while managing a team of skilled professionals. You’ll be instrumental in driving innovation, maintaining ISO compliance, and ensuring exceptional product quality for our customers.

Position Summary

The function is responsible for running and maintaining the Lab and Quality Control departments, including recruiting experienced staff and critical technical equipment/infrastructure. The position provides expertise, counsel, and test support in all areas of analytical chemistry and material testing.

Provide in-house technical support to customers, product managers, research and development staff, and sales associates as required.  Work independently on process and product development projects.  Provide analytical support to customers, product managers, and sales associates.  Manage the quality assurance function in the laboratory.     

What You’ll Do

May include one or more of the following:

  • Provide primarily in-house product and process development support to customers, product managers and sales associates (internal and external customers).  Some outside / field technical support may also be required.
  • Oversee the quality assurance function of the laboratory and assure compliance to all ISO protocols.  Develop and manage the Analytical Lab Quality Control functions, support product and application development projects.
  • Lead and develop the employees of the Lab and Quality Control functions.
  • Provide expertise, counsel, and test support in all areas of analytical chemistry and material testing, including reporting.
  • Oversee technical laboratory operations and practices involving test instruments and test procedures and control programs.
  • Recommend a course of action to either prevent or correct customer issues.
  • Keep up to date on the latest innovations in analytical chemistry and testing. Make recommendations regarding the capability of our equipment. Recommend new equipment or accessories as needed.
  • Provide analytical support, analytical process development, and reverse engineering of competitive products.
  • Provide field technical service support as directed.  Train customers in product control procedures.
  • Work closely with other functions to align on best practices and transfer knowledge.
  • Maintain overall quality, effectiveness and speed of lab operation.  Overseeing proper supply of chemicals, equipment, tech sheets, etc. needed for on going lab operation.
  • Manage the purchase of laboratory supplies.
  • This position is Safety Sensitive.  Employees in Safety Sensitive positions are subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5 years of industrial laboratory experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, statistical process control, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Proven leadership experience in developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in laboratory software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
