Position Overview
The Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education-Roosevelt ICRE-R provides a comprehensive transition program for students with disabilities. ICRE-R strives to provide transition services including independent living, post-secondary education, vocational training, advocacy, community participation and services to assist students with disabilities in achieving the highest level of independence in community living and employment This position serves as the administrative assistant to the principal at ICRE R providing support to the education department, maintaining student records, working with students and family members and liaising with other administrative areas. This position also prepares articles for Department of Human Services (DHS) publications and maintains and updates policy and procedural manuals that govern the operation of the Transition Program and Pre-Employment Preparation (PEP) Program for supervisory and instructional staff. ICRE-R is seeking a candidate with exemplary organizational and communication skills and who is detail oriented and able to carry out assignments with limited oversight.
Essential Functions

Serves as administrative assistant for the Principal of Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education-Roosevelt (ICRE-R).

Maintains students’ physical and electronic case files for admissions, progress and program completion.

Participates in the analysis of existing operations, equipment, specialized skills requirements, and self-employment and employment data, to make recommendations leading to reduced operating costs and to improve the education program.

Prepares articles for DHS publications.

Maintains and updates policy and procedural manuals that govern the operation of the Transition Program and Pre-Employment Preparation (PEP) Program for supervisory and instructional staff.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.

Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively (written and orally) and coordinating day to day activities that lead to greater efficiencies and effectiveness within a division or bureau.
-
Two (2) years of professional experience working for a public or private organization, in a social or human services field, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
-
Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while multitasking multiple projects.
-
Two (2) years of professional experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships with staff, customers, vendors and public and encouraging respect for those of other cultures and background.
-
One (1) year of professional experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft office suites in the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and presentations in an accessible format for various audiences.

One (1) year of professional experience researching issues and concerns in preparation of reports and correspondence to staff, customers, public, and/or internal/external stakeholder.
