The Health Services Director is responsible for management and supervision of all aspects of Clinics, Assisted Living Units and the Public Health functions, including planning and direction, public relations, budget and finance, human resources, purchase and supply, plant maintenance, housekeeping, general administrative services and coordination of medical, dental, pharmaceutical and ancillary staff activities. Duties:
• Direct, administer, and coordinate all activities of the Clinics, Assisted Living Units and Public Health to carry out its mission of providing health care to the Mille Lacs community.
• Prepare, submit, revise, and manage the budget.
• Provide for careful, economical and safe administration of funds.
• Establish and manage fee structure and receivables billing, maximizing third party income.
• Develop, interpret and enforce Clinic, Assisted Living Units and Public Health policy and procedure
• Interpret and enforce Band personnel policies.
• Assure appropriate employment records are maintained.
• Assure compliance with Band and Federal employment policy, regulation, and laws.
• Act as final authority in hiring of all Health Services, employees.
• Assure effective communication and coordination between departments, community and the public.
• Prepare reports, policies and procedures to carry out the function of the Health Services Department.
• Represent the Clinic, Assisted Living Units and Public Health and the health interests of patients at various meetings, public functions, hearings, etc. Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in health administration or related field is required.
• Minimum three to five years of experience in health care administration.
• Minimum three to five years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge of budgeting, human resource management, health care law and regulation, Federal regulatory requirements, and individual discipline standards of practice, Indian health care experience preferred.
• Ability to write effectively to prepare reports, memos, policies and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently and communicate with all clients, families, peers, and other levels of personnel.
• Ability to treat highly confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Experience with and understanding of Native American culture.
• Communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, providers, and supervisors and to supervise all levels of personnel.
• Must have valid MN driver’s license and be insurable by the Band’s auto insurance.
