About the Position
Responsible for the administration of employee compensation for its US locations. The Payroll Specialist will work very closely with the Human Resources team and will be responsible for entering employee payroll information, managing payroll preparation, conducting weekly and biweekly payroll cycles, as well as generating related reports, and maintaining accurate records.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting timecard data and payroll information.
- Entering data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs
- Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, etc.
- Preparing and processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles.
- Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation, processes, and transactions.
- Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations.
- Preparing reports for the accounting team and auditing purposes.
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
- Oversight of payroll for multiple companies.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating resources, policies, programs, and practices to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and laws pertaining to payroll, wages, benefits, and workers compensation.
- Acts as the primary contact for all payroll audit and data requests.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on various projects as needed.
- Good writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven organizational skills with an ability to multitask and drive projects through to completion.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GEC required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years experience working in payroll or a similar role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices. Experience working with accounting and payroll software. Advanced knowledge of ADP payroll software preferred. Experience running payroll for a multi-unit company. Able to learn and understand various state laws and tax codes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. High numerical aptitude and detail-oriented.
