The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for developing and executing site improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to support business objectives. This role also leads environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations related to air, water, waste, energy, greenhouse gases, and workplace safety. The EH&S/CI Manager oversees risk assessment processes and directs activities related to regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.), security, workers’ compensation, and property/casualty insurance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Identify hazardous conditions and actions within the plant, recommending corrective measures.
- Investigate and document incidents, property losses, and safety concerns, preparing reports and presentations.
- Organize and oversee mandatory safety training programs, including forklift operation, lockout/tagout, and new hire safety orientation.
- Conduct risk assessments and manage changes related to new equipment implementation.
- Track employee training to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze injury and illness data to identify training gaps and improve safety initiatives.
- Assist with inspections conducted by insurance carriers and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
- Manage federal, state, and local environmental permits, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Supervise the maintenance of the OSHA 300 log and other required documentation.
- Prepare monthly incident reports and analyze safety performance trends.
- Insurance & Workers’ Compensation:
- Administer the workers’ compensation program, coordinating with employees, medical providers, and insurance representatives.
- Manage all property and casualty insurance claims.
- Supervise and support plant safety teams.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1-3 years of safety experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
- Must be able to work in both office and manufacturing environments with required PPE.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety Management or a related field preferred.
