Summary/Objective
The Work Site Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the work and responsibilities that the IYS Work2Learn (W2L) program has to the community is completed and maintained efficiently and with good representation. This person is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading work site responsibilities for the crews and all activities which fall within the realm of work site functions.
Essential Functions
1. Assess work project requests. Estimate equipment, materials and time
required to complete individual projects. Determine appropriate work
projects for crew workers considering physical limitations and available
resources.
2. Instruct workers in the proper work procedures and use of tools and
equipment. Enforce safety procedures and work crew program rules.
3. Make recommendations regarding worker discipline and performance
evaluations in conjunction with the W2L Transitions Coordinator.
4. Ensure proper transportation needs are set up to and from the site, and
conduct vehicle checks daily.
5. Uphold safety procedures and ensure assistance to crew leads/ members in
obtaining medical attention as needed.
6. Perform and/or supervise general maintenance on all tools and equipment.
7. Operate equipment.
8. Demonstrate proper job duties and professional boundaries to crew leads/
members.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Competencies

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will be responsible and accountable to the work out in the field during operating hours. Supervisory responsibilities are to the Crew Leads and at times, the Crew Members.
Work Environment
This job is operated in both a professional office environment as well as at work sites, in program settings, and in various weather conditions. This role routenly uses equipment both in the office and out in the field.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, hand or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, up to 40 hours per week. IYS operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and coordinators will work to determine the hours for crews as the weather permits. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required for training or other occasions.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires general knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in fire fuel mitigation and equipment maintenance techniques, knowledge of applicable safety hazards and practices. Ability to operate a variety of tools and shop equipment.
