Intercity Transit is currently recruiting for three (3) full-time Operations Supervisors. These positions oversee the daily activities of transportation operations to include providing dispatch, radio communications, on-the-road guidance to Coach and Van Operators, monitors vehicle operation, and driver performance. These positions are classified as safety-sensitive under Intercity Transit’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and is included in the random drug and alcohol testing program.
As an Operations Supervisor you will:
- Monitor vehicle operation, driver performance, and schedule operator relief work assignments.
- Provide field and dispatch supervision as required; furnish advice, assistance, and direction regarding situations that arise as a result of field transit operations; monitor and evaluate operator field activities and skill levels.
- Supervise staff to include conducting performance evaluations; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; making disciplinary decisions and recommendations on an as needed basis; prioritizing and assigning operator work.
- Monitor transit schedules, routes and equipment through field inspection; investigate and report on schedule and route deficiencies and problems; recommend changes as necessary.
Are you the one we’re looking for?
- Associate’s degree in a related field or four (4) years’ experience as transit operator; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Must have a Washington State Driver's License.
- Ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, frequently under stressful circumstances.
- Ability to listen effectively, assimilate information, discern needs and to relate in a clear, friendly, and informative manner.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of Thurston County area and ability to comprehend and communicate maps and routing directions.
- Competent computer, data entry, writing, and reporting skills.
- Able and willing to work; days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
- Ability to obtain (within 6 weeks of hire), and maintain, a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted.
