Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Truck Technician to join our team at Irving Materials. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy duty trucks and related equipment.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position that requires a high level of mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. You will work under supervision to diagnose and repair complex issues with heavy duty trucks, loaders, and other equipment. Your expertise will include conducting mechanical and electrical inspections, troubleshooting problems with brake systems, and performing preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes and fluid checks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of heavy duty trucks and equipment to identify potential issues
- Detect and diagnose problems with brakes, transmissions, engines, and other critical systems
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations
- Assist in repairing or replacing damaged or worn-out parts and components
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree in a related field preferred
- 0-3 years of experience working as a mechanic or in a related field; previous experience with heavy duty trucks and equipment a plus
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating instructions, and procedure guides
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
- Class A or B CDL required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire; Spanish language skills a plus
