Job Summary
Provides leadership to all areas of manufacturing. Develops a competent and motivated team through training and mentoring. Promotes Lean Manufacturing principles to maximize the performance and efficiency of the team. Ensures products are manufactured on-schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, development, and annual performance reviews.
- Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.
- Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
- Own Capacity Planning to level the load between daily bookings and the backlog
- Achieve optimum employee levels and overtime with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
- Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and procedures that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
- Direct and monitor manufacturing coordinator to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
- Act as liaison between executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
- Determine headcount needs, hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department & Management Team as appropriate.
- Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost, scrap, and rework.
- Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
- Initiate and coordinate major projects with Manufacturing Engineers, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
- Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers and apply Lean principals to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, material flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Ensures all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
- Understands & utilizes our in house ERP system – responds to call logs to determine and eliminate root causes, uses features related to inventory, MOs, dashboard, etc.
- Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies.
- Support all current and new product introductions.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
- * 10 years’ experience in manufacturing management
- * Experience in Lean Manufacturing
- * Strong organizational skills
- * Excellent oral and written communication skills. Specifically, technical writing
- * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
- * Effective training skills
- * Data analysis and problem-solving skills
- * Experience working as part of a team
- * Experience in Planning and Implementing an ISO-9001 Quality Management System in Operations
- * Successful relationship building skills
- * Management, supervision, and mentoring skills & experience
